The 57 year mission of CBR YouthConnect is to provide troubled youth with the means to become hopeful and productive citizens.
Our primary goal is to develop and deliver powerful programs that have real impact helping youth, parents and families manage the stresses, confusion and trends of their lives and our society.
Grow Programs and Services
• Serve children and families in crisis referred by county child welfare departments, courts and youth corrections
• Serve hard-to-reach youth from alternative schools, diversion programs, treatment centers and troubled homes with histories of school drop-out, homelessness, teen pregnancy and mental health.
• Help youth, parents and families in the general public manage the stresses, confusion and trends in our society.
• Promote the benefits of human connection with animals and nature
Build More Partnerships
• Create mutually beneficial partnerships with for-profit businesses
• Collaborate with more non-profit partners
Events and Opportunities
CBR YouthConnect is the operating entity of COLORADO BOYS RANCH FOUNDATION, which has provided hope and award winning programs for 15,000 troubled youth and families for 56 years. The organization is a recipient of the prestigious Colorado Ethics in Business Award for Non-Profits; twice recipient of the El Pomar Outstanding Youth Organization Award; and its legacy is chronicled in the book The Hero Within (Fulcrum Press 2007).
Home and Family
CBR YouthConnect provides in-home and community-based services that inspire and support youth and parents referred privately and from county child welfare systems to “keep their families together”
Why. Disturbing trends in child abuse, neglect, absentee parenting, child homelessness, family crisis, teen suicide, school violence and youth rebellion reflect tremendous needs within homes and families.
How. Preventative Aftercare Services / Therapeutic Supervised Visitation / Family Resilience Training
Character Development and Ethics
CBRYC provides courses and learning experiences that inspire and equip youth and parents to think about and adopt a set of personal principles and then have the courage to live by them.
Why. Today’s children and youth are continually exposed to society’s turmoil and conflict about values and ethics. They are influenced by seductive technologies, social media and entertainment, which leaves them very confused about what’s important, what’s right and wrong, and what they stand for in life.
How. The STORY program / Specialized Mentoring
School and Education
CBRYC provides counseling, courses and support to at-risk youth to improve their high school graduation rate.
Why. Because at-risk youth are four times more likely to drop-out and unlikely to attend and graduate from college. They also have higher rates of suicide, homelessness, unemployment and teen pregnancy.
How. Social Emotional Learning Courses / Drop-out Prevention Services
Animals and Nature
CBRYC provides courses and enriched learning experiences via human interaction with animals and nature to promote health benefits, humane education and valuable life lessons.
Why. More and more of today’s youth/families have high-tech, stay-inside-the-house lifestyles creating more problems with obesity and diabetes, even though research proves that general health and brain development improve via interaction with animals and nature.
How. Animal Assisted Therapy / Pawsitive Connection Dog Program / Thunderbird Ranch Outdoor Education
